Falling into Fall

What is it about a perfect fall day? The crispness of the air, the unmistakable smell of falling leaves, the vibrant colors of autumn... and of course, most importantly... the return of the pumpkin spice latte to Starbucks! Half kidding about that last one... Wait, no. I take that back. I wasn't kidding at all. #PSL #notsorry

Here's my list of reasons that fall is the BEST SEASON EVER:

Okay, I'm done now. Sorry about that.

Anyway, when I woke up this morning and walked out onto my apartment's minuscule excuse for a balcony to drink my coffee, I realized that the season wasn't the only thing that had changed. I had changed too.

Because last year, on a perfect fall day like today I'd want to do nothing more than put on a big comfy sweater, sit by the window looking out at the trees, and bury my nose in a good book, where I'd no doubt spend all day reading about wonderful characters someone else had created. But today, all I want to do is sit on my balcony writing about the characters who are banging on the walls of my own mind to get out. I don't know where they'll take me -- I just know they have a story, and it's one I'd like to try to put down on paper.

So today, on the first (in my mind at least) real day of autumn, I'm doing it. I'm starting my second book. My second adventure.

I know it's probably not possible that all of you love fall as much as I do, but I hope your autumn days are magical anyway! Go pick apples. Take a hayride. Smell the leaves. DRINK A PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE. (I swear, Starbucks doesn't sponsor me to pimp out their beverages. I'm just obsessed.)

Much love, all.
