Timing. Is. Everything.

Hooooooly shit, guys. I just hit the 30,000 word mark in my new manuscript. (!!!!!!!) That may not seem all that huge, but for me it's such a milestone. 🎉

I must confess, I've been wanting to write this story for years. YEARS. (!!!) True, I've worked on it on-and-off between other projects... but it's never felt quite like the right timing. And I'm a big believer in timing. In fact, for me, when it comes to pretty much every facet of my life, writing included...

Something can be seemingly perfect for you, but if the timing is wrong... *shrugs* Frankly, it's never gonna happen. When it comes to writing, if I'm not in the right head-space for a specific project...

The words don't flow. I get stuck. I move on to something with a stronger pull. To characters that tug at me incessantly, until I've gotten their story down on paper.

If I'm being totally honest... I've tried to forget about this book. I've deleted. I've re-written. I've deleted again. I've pushed it off, I've given up on it, I've started over despite myself. More than once, I've tried to shelve it entirely...

But for some reason, I keep coming back. Because, as stubborn as I am... and, trust me, I'm pretty damn stubborn... THESE DAMN CHARACTERS ARE EVEN MORE PIG-HEADED.

So, this time... I'm determined to finish it.
Or... at least *try* to finish it.

Because this time... the timing is right. I feel it in my bones.

My goal is to have the first draft done by the end of September.
(HAHAHA, we'll see how that goes.)

So... into the writing cave I go.
Send wine!
I have a feeling I'm going to need it. xx
